Francis Alexander's Will
Probate Court held at the Court House in Georgetown, Brown County, Ohio,
before J. H. Marshall Probate Judge in and for said County on the 26 day of
August A.D. 1859
Brown County S.S.
Be it remembered that heretofore to wit on the 26 day of August A.D. 1859 this
day was presented to the Court a paper writing purporting to be the last will
and testament of Francis Alexander and thereupon came John Ervin and Isam T.
Bradley, the subscribing witnesses to said will and in open Court on oath
testified to the due execution of said Will which testimony was reduced to
writing and by them respectively subscribed and filed with said will. And it
appearing to the Court by said testimony that said will was duly attested and
executed, and that said Testator at the time of executing the same was of full
age and of sound mind and memory and not under any restraint it is ordered
that said Will and testimony be recorded. Said Will and testimony is in the
words and figures following to wit: "Will: In the name of the benevolant
Father of all I Francis Alexander of the County of Brown and State of Ohio do
make and publish this my last Will and Testament. Item first: I devise and
bequeath to my Brother John Alexander one hundred and fifty dollars to be paid
at the end of two years after my decease. Item Second, I devise and bequeath
to my brother Andrew Alexander One hundred and fifty dollars to be paid at the
end of four years after my decease. Item third: I devise and bequeath to my
sister Hannah Alexander who married Jesse Cross one hundred and fifty dollars
to be paid at the end of Six years after my decease. Item fourth: I devise
and bequeath to my nephew Joshua Parish Alexander and his heirs my half of
fifty acres of land and my half of fifty one and a fourth acres of land
joining together making one hundred and one and a fourth acres situate in the
county of Brown and State of Ohio and lying on the State Road to Ripley being
the farm on which Etham Sellman [?] now resides and known as the Records
farm. Item fifth: I devise and bequeath to my brother William Alexander and
his heirs my half of the farm joining Henry Egler and known as the McCune farm
situate in the county of Brown and State of Ohio containing about fifty
acres. Item Sixth I devise and bequeath to my brother William Alexander and
his heirs the farm on which he now resides Situate in the county of Brown and
State of Ohio containing about One hundred and Sixty three and a fourth acres
and all the stock and houshold goods and furniture and all other property both
personal and real that I may be possessed of at my decease with the exceptions
above made in favor of my brothers and Sister and nephew. Item Seventh: I do
hereby nominate and appoint my brother William Alexander Executor of this my
last Will and testament and that he is not to be required to give bond and
security in this case. I do hereby revoke all former wills by me made. In
testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 2nd day of
September in the year of Our Lord A.D. 1858.

testament in our presence and by us in his presence.

Proof
State of Ohio, Brown County S.S.
We John Ervin and Isam T. Bradley being duly sworn in open Court this 26th day
of August 1859 depose and say that we were present at the execution of the
last will and testament of Francis Alexander hereto annexed that we saw said
testator sign said will and testament that at the time of the execution of
said will said Testator was of sound mind and memory and not under any
restraint and that he was bona fide a resident of Brown County Ohio, that we
signed the said will as witnesses at his request and in his presence and in
the presence of each other.
