John Hays
Crime shooting with intent to kill; sentence, three years; convicted at the
November term, 1965, of the Court of Common Pleas of Cuyahoga county.
Pardoned 18 JUL 1866, in view of the admitted fact, that there was great
provocation to the prisoner before committing the assult for which he was
convicted; that he was upon his own premises where the prosecuting witness was
exciting a disturbance; and also in consideration of his having served
faithfully, and recieved seven wounds, in the army during the rebellion.
