This small cemetery sits atop a knoll approximately 0.1
miles west of State Route 674 and approximately 0.1 mile
south of Ashville Fairfield Road (C-42). The cemetery had
been unkempt, but was restored by Gerald Baker Tallman. It
was dedicated as the Tallman Cemetery after his
restoration. It is now fenced, stones have been reset and
some reinforced, and the cemetery is well cared for.
There are some very old stones here. The view from the
hilltop is impressive, and the city of Columbus can be
seen to the northwest. If you are going to visit, be
prepared for the hike. The hill is steeper than it might
seem. When I visited the cemetery on April 21, there were
31 markers, not all of them legible. The listing here
combines the markers I was able to view compared to the
listing done by Paul Mayberry for the Pickaway County
Genealogy Society in 1999. Mr. Mayberry indicated in his
report if the gravestone was recorded by the DAR in their
1936 project Gravestones of Pickaway County. Where that
information applies, I have so indicated per Mayberry's
notation.
